Summer, Marriage, Friends, and Motorcycles

I suppose I'm way overdue for a post on here. Oh well. It's now summertime and it feels great. Life is a peach and I've had tons of fun with friends in the last few weeks. For those of you who already know, I recently purchased a powered two wheeled people mover a.k.a. a motorcycle in the form of a Suzuki SV650. I've put on approximately 700 miles since 4 weeks ago and I can't seem to keep myself off of it (well of course when its not raining). I've enjoyed it even more that I imagined I would. The feeling of just you, the bike and the road is liberating. I even have avoided the guilt of burning massive quantities of fossil fuels due to the ridiculously awesome mileage I get with it...approximately 47mpg around town! So that has been fun. CarlaJoy is off from school for the next 3 months to enjoy her summer vacation. She deserves it. Although sometimes I wish I had a summer vacation too. Speaking of my wife, today we celebrate our 3rd anneversary. Its hard to belive that we've been married that long. Funny how  all the things people said about marriage sucking are nothing but echoes in the backs of our minds now. Perhaps I'm different than most average joes, but I absolutely love my wife and love being married! Huzzah! Lets see...what else...oh, work has been going well as of late despite the recent hapenings. By recent hapenings I mean that one of my bosses was fired about month ago. I got a new office and more resposibility in lieu of his permanent absence, but I enjoy it and look forward to whats down the road. So thats about it. Life is good, God is good and I can't really complain about anything. I believe this is what so many Americans try to obtain but never do...contentment. I must be lucky.

This week rocks. Its Tuesday, which means I begin development on the UI (user interface) of the next HUGE application I'm writing for work. My boss informed me today that I "get to design it however I see fit." To translate that into something you non-software developer types can relate to: thats like saying to a 4 year old boy: "here is a 2 acre sand box with 1,000 Tonka trucks at your disposal. Oh, and you have it to yourself." That's reason #1 that this week rocks. #2 is that I get to finally paint the walls of the guest bedroom tonight. #3 I'm going to Ikea (which is like the coolest thing since the invention of the Swedish meatball) this weekend. #4: Snow is in the forecast for tonight and Friday. #5: The VW shop finally fixed the GTI's right rear brake caliper that was dragging and making noise. #6: APR (http://www.goapr.com/VW/products/stage3_trans20t.html) finally came out with their Transverse 2.0T FSI Stage III turbo kit. Now I just need to come up with the $8,000 and wait until the GTI's warranty is up .

Have a great week kids!

Its snowing outside. Its below 20 degrees F. I have a open Mountain Dew to my left. Nothing to do today but to write software. This surely is bliss. It has to be illegal to love your job this much. Seriously.
